Tour Costs

The tours of this nationally important historic site are extremely popular and attract great numbers of visitors all year round.  A tour includes:

hearing the stories of the female convicts

bullet

viewing the archaeological digs

bullet

exploring the Memorial Garden

bullet

visiting the Matron's Cottage

bullet

visiting the site shop

Visitors cannot fail to be moved as they walk through the area with one of our trained volunteer tour guides who talk about the history of the female convicts and their lifestyle at the Female Factory, the buildings as they were at the time, and the restoration and archaeological work currently being carried out.

The tour lasts between an hour and an hour and a quarter and includes a visit to the Memorial Gardens and the Matron's Cottage.

As a memorable end to the tour you are able to visit the Site Shop and purchase a selection of the range of hand made chocolate fudge, truffles, and other quality Tasmanian products.

Reservations for tours are advisable - please contact us to make a booking.

Tours (bookings essential):
1 December to 30 April – 9:30am and 2pm
1 May 60 30 November – 9:30am only

Morning Tea with the Matron (bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance):
Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 10:30am

Concession - pensioner/student/seniors $8.00
Child $5.00
Family (2 Adults and up to 4 Children) $25.00
Members YHA, RACT and Senior organisations - less 10% of applicable price

$12.00 per person (no discounts apply)
 

Special Combined Historic Site Tour & Morning Tea with the Matron
(Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

$16.00 per person (no discounts apply)

 


Groups - tours can be arranged at a time to suit, including weekends and public holidays, for groups of 15 or more
Special interest $8.00
Tertiary Institutions - 10% off concession $7.20
Schools - up to and including college $4.50
