The
tours of this nationally important historic site are
extremely popular and attract great numbers of visitors
all year round. A tour includes:

hearing the stories of the female
convicts

viewing the archaeological digs |

exploring
the Memorial Garden |
 |
visiting the Matron's Cottage |
 |
visiting the site shop |

Visitors
cannot fail to be moved as they walk through the area with one
of our trained volunteer tour guides who talk about the history
of the female convicts and their lifestyle at the
Female Factory,
the buildings as they were at the time, and the restoration
and archaeological
work currently being carried out.
The
tour lasts between an hour and an hour and a quarter and includes
a visit to the
Memorial Gardens and the
Matron's Cottage.
As
a memorable end to the tour you are able to visit the
Site Shop and purchase a selection
of the range of hand made chocolate fudge, truffles, and other
quality Tasmanian products.
