Special guided tours can be arranged to suit students' needs.
The cost for all students from primary school to high school
is $4.50 per child. Secondary college and university student
tours cost $6.00 per student. There is no charge for accompanying
teachers and other adults.

Primary School Tours
The Female Factory Historic
Site Ltd embraces the objective that our young people develop
a sense of recognition and ownship through education.. Bearing
this in mind the organisation has developed a new interactive
school tour focused on Primary School aged children. It enables
students to experience various facets of Tasmania’s convict
history.
The tour has been designed by
Female Factory staff, ex teachers and current teachers and was
trialed by South Hobart Primary School, receiving very positive
accolades from, teachers, students and parents.
The tour is designed to cover
all areas of Essential Learning, thus providing the teacher
with an invaluable resource, which can be modified to suit any
individual class.
The program consists of three
stages. The first involves an information kit sent to the teachers
who have booked the tour for their students. The kit contains
general information on the site, a choice of various experiences
for their students, during the tour and suggestions for pre
and post tour classroom activities.
The second stage is the actual
tour undertaken in costume by one of our experienced tour guides.
It involves opportunities for identification of features on
the site, singing, dancing, convict sentencing and social conditions
of the time.
The third covers classroom activities
following the tour and is directly related to the program chosen
by the individual teacher for their students.
The cost of the tour and related
activities is $5.00 peer student. One teacher or adult free
of charge with each ten students.
